The Brandon University Students' Union (BUSU) represents undergraduate, graduate, and distance students at Brandon University in Manitoba, Canada. BUSU is a non-profit organization represents approximately 3,300 students. It was incorporated in 1969 as Local 37 of the Canadian Federation of Students and is located in the Knowles-Douglas Centre at Brandon University. BUSU is the primary investor and majority shareholder of Students' Union Drinking Spot Incorporated (SUDS Inc), the corporation responsible for the operation of Brandon University's on-campus bar. BUSU is contracted by the Knowles-Douglas Commission to maintain the day-to-day operations of the Knowles-Douglas Centre. The Knowles Douglas Student Union Building was The BUSU office is located on the 1st floor of the Knowles Douglas Building at Brandon University. ==Services== BUSU offers many services to students. A $15 U-Pass is paid for by each student on the Brandon campus, valid from September 1st to August 31st of the next year. Computers are also available for student use during office hours. International Student Identity Cards(ISIC) can be obtained at the BUSU office. The BUSU food bank is a confidential service available to all Brandon University students in need of assistance. The food bank is operated by volunteers and sustained through donations and BUSU financing. Handbook Each year the students' union produces 3,000 student planners, which are available to students for free. The handbook provides information about the university and the students' union along with a weekly calendar for students to track course assignments and all of their extra curricular activities. Work Study BUSU and the Brandon University operate a work study program. Health and Dental Plan In 2008, Brandon University students voted in favor of creating a Health and Dental Plan for students who do not have coverage otherwise. BUSU works with the Canadian Federation of Students' National student Health Network to provide health coverage to students. The coverage provided to students is through Green Shield, which is Canada's only, not for profit insurance provider. BUSU Tutor Registry BUSU allows students to find qualified tutors for courses in which they would like extra support and allows independent tutors a place to post contact information.
